THE URGENCY OF HALAL CERTIFICATION FOR MSME PRODUCTS IN INDONESIA

Abstract

The implementation of halal certification on all product and services by halal agency in Indonesia is very important for entrepreneurs especially for SMEs. Phenomenon of halal policy referred that big corporation was not effect significantly, because since corporation establishment has halal certificate. In the contras, SMEs had effect significantly since the halal policy for business survive, quality of product, and competitiveness increase. However, SMEs still had not halal certificate. The aim of research is to analyze the important of halal certification for SMEs. Research method used qualitative descriptive with documentation data. The result of the research showed halal certification was very important for SMEs especially in consumer protection dan trusted. Halal produk became a life style and had high quality product could be exported to foreign. Halal certification became factors of economic deveploment in the country, so the producers were expected to understand halal certification comprehensively and could register halal certification.
